MEXICAN FROZEN FOOD

On Friday we went to Oxford Street to eat Mexican food. But we had a little problem… nobody booked a dinner table and we were 10 people! There were people from Brazil, Mexico, Korea, Spain, Belgium and me from Chile.

El viernes fuimos a Oxford Street a comer comida Mejicana. Pero tuvimos un pequeño problema… nadie reservó una mesa para la comida y éramos 10 personas! Había gente de Brasil, Méjico, Corea, España, Bélgica y yo de Chile.

We decided to wait, because really wanted to eat in this place. While we wait an available table, we stayed outside. However, here it is winter too, so we began to transformer in penguin… the heater wasn´t enough, because the wind was very cold.

Decidimos esperar, porque realmente queríamos comer ahí. Mientas esperábamos que se desocupe una mesa, estuvimos afuera. Sin embargo, acá también es invierno, así es que nos empezamos a convertir en pingüinos… la estufa no era suficiente, porque el viento era demasiado helado.

Finally, we had a table inside and the night was wonderful. We ate a lot of excellent Mexican food; even the Mexican people said that. Burritos, enchiladas, tacos… all that you can imagine.

Finalmente, conseguimos una mesa adentro y la noche estuvo increíble. Comimos un montón de excelente comida mejicana, incluso los mejicanos dijeron eso. Burritos, enchiladas, tacos… todo lo que se les ocurra.

VEGEMITE EPISODE

All the time we play the same game. We are UNO addicts!
The last weekend the koala friends came to our residence and with other home mates we played UNO. It was so funny, because when you lost you might have a stupid dare. For example, you need to show a talent.

Todo el tiempo jugamos el mismo juego. Somos adictos al UNO!
El fin de semana pasado los amigos-koala vinieron a nuestra residencia y con otros compañeros de casa jugamos UNO. Estuvo muy entretenido, porque cuando perdías tenías que hacer una penitencia estúpida. Por ejemplo, tenías que mostrar un talento.

We sang songs (the koala guys sing very, very well), red poems and danced, so relax. But when was Johan’s turn, Marie had a great idea! Here some people eat a strange product called VEGEMITE (If you want to learn about it, click here http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegemite). We don’t know what is it? Look like nutella, but if you smell it you can imagine a too bad flavor. I am not enough brave to try it.

Cantamos canciones (los hombres koala cantan super bien), leímos poemas y bailamos, muy relajado. Pero cuando fue el turno de Johan, Marie tuvo una excelente idea! Acá algunas personas comen una cosa rara que se llama VEGAMITE (si quieren aprender de éste, vean aquí http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegemite). No tenemos idea qué es? Parece nutella, pero si lo hueles te puedes imaginar un sabor pésimo. Yo no soy lo suficientemente valiente para probarlo.

I had seen two foreign people who were tried it and both almost throw up later. It was so funny to us look their faces. The victims were Sebastian from Colombia in Saberio’s birthday (we put a little spoon in his cake piece) and Johan the last Saturday. I have excellent videos about these situations. When I go back to Chile you can enjoy their. The most strange is that some Aussies like it!

He visto dos extranjeros que lo han probado y ambos casi vomitan después. Es demasiado divertido ver sus caras. Las víctimas fueron Sebastián de Colombia en el cumpleaños de Saberlo (le pusimos una cucharada en su pedazo de torta) y Johan el sábado pasado. Tengo excelentes videos. Cuando vuelva a Chile los van a poder disfrutar. Lo más raro es que a algunos australianos les gusta!

THEY ARE HERE!

Yea! I have the evidence. Maida & Sergio arrived on Saturday’s morning. They were too tired (I understand, jet lag effect it is terrible), then I only could see them few minutes at the airport. But yesterday we went together to the Opera House and Botanical Garden, unfortunately soon began to rain, so we finished drank a coffee in Starbucks.
Today they were in my residence, because they needed to use internet. Maybe during the week I will stay with them again. I hope…

Sí! Tengo la evidencia. La Maida y Sergio llegaron el sábado en la mañana. Estaban demasiado cansados (los entiendo, el efecto jet lag es lo peor), así es que los vi un ratito en el aeropuerto. Pero ayer fuimos juntos al Opera House y Botanical Garden, desafortunadamente pronto empezó a llover, así es que terminamos tomándonos un café en el Starbucks.
Hoy estuvieron en mi residencia, porque necesitaban Internet. Quizás durante la semana nos veamos de nuevo. Espero…

KOALA MODE

We have new friends. They are Swede-koala guys.
Do you know which is the main koala activity during the day? Probably not… they are 20 hour per day sleeping. Yea, really!

Tenemos nuevos amigos. Ellos son los hombres koala-suecos.
Ustedes saben cuál es la principal actividad de los koalas durante el día? Probablemente no… ellos duermen 20 horas diarias. En verdad!

So, we discover that on winter, when it is raining, people take “koala-mode”. Sometimes we are only sitting, talking and laughing with them. They are very nice. Their names are Marcus and Johan. They speak excellent English, even better than Marie.

Así es que descubrimos que en invierno, cuando está lloviendo, la gente está en “koala mode”. A veces estamos solamente sentados, conversando y riéndonos con ellos. Son súper simpáticos. Se llaman Marcus y Johan. Ellos hablan perfecto inglés, incluso major que la Marie.

And guess? The Marcu’s mother is Chilean, but you don’t worry he isn’t DJ Mendez… He speaks perfect Spanish. He had been several times in Chile, mainly in Santiago. Everywhere you find Chilean people…

Y adivinen? La mamá de Marcus es chilena, pero no se preocupen él no es DJ Méndez… él habla español perfecto. Ha estado varias veces en Chile, principalmente en Santiago. En todas partes encuentras un chileno…

WHAT’S THE WEATHER LIKE?

The winter is here. Goodbye beach time… Frequently the weather is better than in Santiago, it isn’t very cold. But it was raining, even pouring with thunders, the last two weeks. So, welcome coats, sweaters and scarves.

Se nos apareció el invierno, adiós tiempos de playa… Habitualmente el clima es mejor que en Santiago, no es demasiado helado. Pero estuvo lloviendo, a veces a cántaros con truenos, las últimas 2 semanas. Así es que bienvenidos abrigos, sweater y bufandas.

The worst it is the difficulty to go out. If you revise the Dalai Lama picture, can check the bad conditions, too much umbrellas.
This changed our activities. We are addict to Starbucks and movies.

Lo peor es que es muy difícil salir. Si es que revisan la foto de Dalai Lama, pueden comprobar las malas condiciones, demasiados paraguas.
Eso cambió nuestras actividades. Estamos adictas al Starbucks y películas.

We needed to buy a little heater, due to our bedroom was so cold and wet. Now we are warm and happy.

Tuvimos que comprar una estufita, debido a que nuestra pieza estaba muy helada y húmeda. Ahora estamos calientitas y felices.

Today, happy birthday Andrés! Brother, a hug and a big kiss to you!

DALAI LAMA IN SYDNEY

It isn´t a joke. Look! It was yestarday in Domain Garden.

Brothers, it isn´t "Super Dalai", he is the REAL DALAI.

No es talla. Miren! Fue ayer en Domain Garden.

Hermanos, no es "Super Dalai", es el VERDADERO DALAI.

FAREWELL TIME

This week was the last to many people, so we did many “farewell activities” during the week.

Esta semana fue la última de muchas personas, así es que tuvimos varias “actividades de despedida” durante la semana.

On Wednesday Side Bar, of course!
All Wednesday the same place and music, but it was a special party, because was a kind of farewell party to our mates. A happy crowd danced together all the night… It was TERRIFIC!!!

El miércoles Side Bar, por supuesto!
Todos los miércoles el mismo lugar y música, pero fue una fiesta especial, porque era una especie de fiesta de despedida para nuestros compañeros. Una multitud feliz, bailando juntos toda la noche… estuvo ESPECTACULAR!!!

On Thursday, we had dinner to The Rocks. Italian food, great choice! We enjoyed delicious food!!!!

El jueves salimos a comer a The Rocks (es el barrio más antiguo de Sydney, en los primeros post aparecen fotos). Comida italiana, excelente opción! Disfrutamos de una exquisita comida!!!

On Friday, the rain was worse. So we remained in the residence, played UNO, our favorite game!

SYDNEY HARBOUR BRIDGE

It’s a pleasure introduce you… the Sydney Harbour Bridge!
This is a picture from North Sydney, the other side of the city.

Es un placer presentarles… el Puente Sydney Harbour!
Esta es una foto tomada desde Sydney Norte, al otro lado de la ciudad.

It was finished in 1932 and was the favourite icon of Sydney before the construction of Sydney Opera House.
It’s huge!
Cars, trains, cyclists, buses and pedestrian share the bridge. We walked like 30 minutes to cross it and we returned by train. I took pictures in different points of the bridge. Look how change the Opera House perspective…

Este fue terminado en 1932 y fue el ícono favorito de Sydney antes de la construcción del Sydney Opera House.
Es enorme!
Autos, trenes, ciclistas, buses y peatones comparten el puente. Caminamos como 30 minutos para cruzarlo y nos devolvimos en tren. Saqué fotos en distintos puntos del puente. Miren cómo cambia la perspectiva del Sydney Opera House…

On Tuesday was cold, so after cross it we went to drink a coffee. And later went to the cinema to watch “Shreck 3”. After we were tired and returned to the residence. We needed to sleep, because on Wednesday… wait the next post…

El martes estaba helado, así es que después de cruzarlo fuimos a tomarnos un café. Y después fuimos al cine a ver “Shreck 3”. Después estábamos cansados y volvimos a la residencia. Necesitábamos dormir, porque el miércoles… esperen el siguiente post…

DARLING HARBOUR – Puerto Querido

On Monday I loved the monarchy… Perhaps you don’t understand, but I am sure that if you were here, you would have the same felling.
I can explain you… on Monday we celebrate the queen birthday, so we have holiday!!!
And finally the weather was good.

El lunes amé a la monarquía… Quizás no me entiendan, pero estoy segura que si estuvieran acá, tendrían el mismo sentimiento.
Les explico… el lunes celebramos el cumpleaños de la reina (de Inglaterra) así es que tuvimos feriado!!! Y finalmente el clima estuvo bueno.

We went to Darling Harbour. It is a huge and nice place, where is the Aquarium, many restaurants, bars, a mall, the Casino, museums, a Chinese garden and games. You can see the families with children and a lot of tourists.
And it is located in the hearth of the city, one train station since Opera House (6 since our residence) and next to the main business buildings. In the other hand, you are next to the water full of different kinds of boats.

Fuimos a Darling Harbour. Es un lugar enorme donde está el acuario, muchos restoranes, bares, un mall, el casino, museos, un jardín chino y juegos. Puedes ver a las familias paseando con sus hijos y un montón de turistas.
Y está ubicado en el corazón de la ciudad, a una estación de tren desde el Opera House (6 desde nuestra residencia) y al lado de los principales edificios corporativos. Por otro lado, estás al lado del agua, lleno de diferentes tipos de embarcaciones.

There was a Jazz Festival, so you could listen this music in different corners. We were walking, talking and breathing clean air.

And in the evening, it was a little cold, so we went to Starbucks Coffee.
It was a good day, the best way to begin the week!

Había un Festival de Jazz, así es que podías escuchar esa música en diferentes partes. Estuvimos caminando, conversando y respirando aire puro.

Y al atardecer estaba un poco helado, por lo que fuimos al Starbucks Coffee.
Fue un buen día, la mejor manera de empezar la semana!

HUGE STORM - mega tormenta

Crazy weather! It was raining so strong since the Thursday. I red the newspaper and it was the worst storm in the last 30 years! Some accidents in the street, delays in the train and the same problems that we have in Chile when rain too much.
This situation changed our plans, because we couldn’t go out. So we stayed all nights in the residence. The Friday’s night we play some cards game. “The lair” was really funny.

El clima está loco!!! Estuvo lloviendo fuertísimo desde el jueves. Leí el diario y fue la peor tormenta en los últimos 30 años! Algunos accidentes en las calles, retrasos en el tren y los mismos problemas que tenemos en Chile cuando llueve demasiado. (Mal de muchos, consuelo de tontos).
Esta situación cambió nuestros planes, porque no pudimos salir. Así es que estuvimos todas las noches en la residencia. La noche del viernes jugamos algunos juegos de carta. “El mentiroso” fue realmente divertido.

The Saturday was raining all the day, but in the evening stopped. Marie and I went to have dinner with a Korean girl. The worst Greek salad that I ever tried. It was tomato, lettuce and onion (?). This isn’t Greek salad! Then we returned to the residence and watched a movie.

El sábado estuvo lloviendo todo el día, pero al atardecer paró. Con la Marie fuimos a comer con una coreana. La peor ensalada griega que he probado en mi vida. Tenía tomate (bien), lechuga y cebolla. De qué estamos hablando? eso no es ensalada griega! Después volvimos a la residencia y vimos una película.

And the Sunday morning I went to the mass (in the correct church). And when the mass finished the day was very sunny, so I seized to take some pictures in Hyde Park (I had a little bit problem with the light. Look my face! I am a ghost!).
The place was really beautiful, because the rain and wind cut some branches and a lot of leaves were on the floor. Look and enjoy… But it was only a few minutes, so I need to come back to the residence. Marie was sick, so we remained in our room. In the evening we ate the traditional pizza (all the Sunday it is the same) and at night movie again.

Y el domingo en la mañana fui a misa (en la iglesia correcta). Y cuando terminó la misa el día estaba muy soleado, así es que aproveché de sacar algunas fotos en Hyde Park (tuve un pequeño problema con la luz. Miren mi cara! Soy un fantasma!).
El lugar estaba realmente bonito, porque el viento y la lluvia cortaron algunas ramas y había muchas hojas en el suelo. Miren y disfruten… pero fue sólo por pocos minutos, así es que tuve que volver a la residencia. Marie estaba enferma, así que nos quedamos en nuestra pieza. En la tarde comimos la tradicional pizza (todos los domingos es lo mismo) y en la noche película de nuevo.
